Violence in general is an epidemic. It is a disease, because it starts with some bad bacteria (unchecked anger is a big one) which spreads to and influences other nearby elements. Like any contagious disease it affects not just nearby "at-risk" elements, but it also affects the seeminlgy healthy elements as well until it turns septic and the organism (in this case, a particular society) eventually dies. Violence kills a society very slowly and very painfully. Anti-violence agents usually try to employ tactics that either try to contain the violence from escalating or are useless in the grand scheme of things. These tactics are like band-aids and like antibiotics that have lost their potency because they've been misused and yet these measures are still employed instead of people trying to rethink their approach on how to cure this problem.

Because it causes chain reactions and normalizes violence, both of which just make it grow and turn into an epidemic.

It's an "epidemic" b/c the living conditions across the country are the same. Oppressed and limited.

I don't know... when someone calls you something you want to do something.
